I am writing to you all with some important updates regarding my schedule at Alchemist starting
September 1st, 2023.
Please read through the following to know how this will affect you and scheduling in the future.
As the Alchemist brand continues to grow, my workload has also increased. In order to give you, my incredible staff, and my business the best service possible, I will be updating my service hours to 40 hrs/week —as opposed to my usual 60+ hours/week I’ve been operating at for the last three years!
In addition to the tasks away from my chair that running two salons takes, working long hours all these years has caught up with me and I am eager to set a more sustainable schedule. I’m also looking forward to being able to spend more quality time with my friends and family as well as continue to grow my business to serve you better.
Along with my consolidated schedule, I will be increasing my service prices. Pricing will be according to the amount of time it takes to perform each service, instead of by service name, to help streamline operations moving forward. Those updated prices are listed below.
My new schedule starting September 1st:
Charlotte Location. 3820 Charlotte Ave
Monday | Wednesday | Friday | Saturday
Melrose Location. 2600 8th Ave S
Tuesday | Thursday
All current appointments will stay the same, however the location may change. Don’t worry— We will notify you of any important changes to your existing appointments.
SERVICES
As for my price changes, most prices will increase by about $15-$45 dollars each, depending on the service and the time they require.
HAIRCUTS
Clean up — 5min - $0
(bang/neck trim)
Maintenance Haircut — 20 min - $50
(usually men’s hair cut , no shampoo, no blow dry)
Short Haircut — 30min — $85
(short hair - little to no blow drying)
Haircut — 45 min - $120
(medium to short hair/fine hair; quick blow-dry)
Long Haircut — 60 min - $150
(the works - shampoo and blow dry/style)
Extra Long Haircut — 90min - $200
(super thick hair, super curly hair blown straight, or highly styled)
COLOR
Express Color - $100
(base color and leave with color on your hair to wash out at home)
Any of the following services can be $30 less without the blow dry; you will just need to specify when booking.
Base Color - $160
(base only —no color applied to your ends)
All over Color - $210
(base + color refreshed through to the ends)
Accent Highlight - $165
(highlights around the hairline and throughout the top)
Partial Highlight - $245
(highlights through most of the hair)
Full Highlight - $295
(all sections of head highlighted)
I will no longer be providing smoothing treatments. (I’ve been worrying about what the chemical exposure might be doing to my lungs & yours over an extended period of time)
What this means for you:
I would love nothing more to be able to keep each & every one of you as my clients, but reducing my work hours each week means that it is just not physically possible. I deeply appreciate your understanding, flexibility, and support during this transition to make the best option work for both of us.
Additionally, I realize that my new prices may no longer fit into everyone’s hair budget. In those cases, I want anyone that prefers to go to a more affordable stylist to transition as easily as possible.
We’ll gladly give you recommendations to continue seeing you in our salons! This also allows us to transition any notes, color formulas and details of past services so that you won’t be starting from scratch with someone new.
In order to allow us to find the best solution for everyone’s needs, during this crucial 6 week transition before my new schedule goes into effect, my front desk staff and I will be coordinating with you all to find the right way to: A) either fit you into my new schedule, or B) find another stylist here at Alchemist (at either location) to best accommodate you.

If you’re looking for other options, here are a few that may also be helpful:
You can extend your time in-between services.
(Ex: if you go 6 weeks per visit maybe schedule out 7-9 weeks out instead)
Skipping a haircut every other color.
(Ex: if you get cut and color every time, we can skip the cut every other visit)
If you don’t have a special event that evening, you can leave with towel dried hair and save both time and money.
See another stylist every other visit —
I’m happy to recommend any of our talented stylists at either location to fit into your schedule and we can see each other alternating visits.
Transition to another stylist
We can help connect you with one of our stylists that fits both your budget & scheduling needs.
